ESR announces 2025 election results

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) has released its leadership results following the completion of its January 2025 election process. The new ESR Executive Council will take office on 3 March 2025.

Dr. Amelie Lutz, from Thurgau in Switzerland, will assume the role of ESR education committee chair after narrowly defeating Prof. Annemiek Snoeckx, from Antwerp in Belgium, with 1,447 votes to 1,350 votes.

Among three candidates seeking to become the new ESR research committee chair, Dr. Raquel Perez-Lopez, from Barcelona in Spain, will take the helm after receiving 1,362 votes out of a total of 2,892 cast in that category. Dr. Helmut Prosch, from Vienna, came second with 1,145 votes, while Dr. Zsigmond Tamás Kincses, from Szeged in Hungary, came third with 385 votes.

Three of the posts were uncontested:

  • Prof. Marie-Pierre Revel, from Paris, was elected ESR second vice president, with 2,746 votes.
  • Prof. Luís Curvo Semedo, from Aveiro in Portugal, was elected ESR national societies committee chair, with 2,709 votes.
  • Prof. Ferdia Gallagher, from Cambridge in the U.K., was elected ESR publications committee chair, with 2,709 votes.

Nearly 34,000 ESR members were eligible to vote in the election, but only 3,033 ballots were cast, amounting to a turnout of 8.93%.
