The European Society of Radiology (ESR) and the French Society of Radiology (SFR) said they were saddened to announce that former SFR and European Association of Radiology (EAR) Secretary General Dr. Michel Bléry passed away on 31 December at the age of 78.

Later, Bléry served as secretary general of the EAR from 1993 to 1998 and France's radiology teachers association (Collège d'Enseignants de Radiologie de France) from 1997 to 2000. He also received the EAR's Boris Rajewski medal in 2005 and the SFR Medal of Honor in 2007.
In addition, Bléry served as editor in chief of Radiology Leaflets and a member of the executive committee of European Radiology.
