Philips, World Bank, Ukraine health ministry partner on stroke care

Philips has partnered with the World Bank and Ukraine's Ministry of Health on an initiative to modernize stroke and cardiovascular care in Ukraine.

The move is in response to an increased demand for stroke care in the Ukraine, due to war damage and displaced people needing timely healthcare, Philips said.

The initiative will create a network of locations for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke, installing 25 of Philips' Azurion interventional suites in Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa. The interventional suites will support neurovascular procedures such as thrombectomies and will combine software tools and technologies to accelerate procedures and enhance care coordination, according to the firm.

Philips will work with its partner, AFS Medizintechnik, to install the systems across the Ukraine; 19 have already been installed, it said.

The company partnered with the World Stroke Organization in 2023 and has expanded its involvement through the organization's Advocacy Coalition.
