The Spanish Society of Medical Radiology (SERAM) has highlighted Spanish prize winners in the RSNA 2024 poster hall.
Two of the e-poster presentations by Spaniards received magna cum laude (MCL) awards: “An in-depth look at the ocular globe, the radiologist's blind spot,” by Dr. S. Pereiro Pérez et al from the Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital of Vigo; and “Triangulation and additional views in mammography. Back to basic of problem-solving techniques still alive,” by Dr. J. Azpeitia Armán et al from the Central Radiology Unit of the CAM at the Infanta Leonor University Hospital in Madrid.
In addition, two cum laude awards went to Dr. J. Arenas-Jimenez et al from the Dr. Balmis General University Hospital in Alicante for “Understanding cystic lung lesions in smokers with interstitial lung disease: Radiologic-pathologic correlation,” and to Dr. Sandra Baleato-Gonzalez et al from the Clinico Universitario hospitals of Santiago de Compostela, the Clinica Girona and HTMedica in Jaén for “Decoding the immunotherapy related adverse events with imaging.”
Certificates of merit were also awarded to 16 other e-posters from Spain.
SERAM said almost 400 radiology professionals and several members of its board of directors served as national representatives for the annual conference. It added that Spanish specialists had 37% of their scientific works presented accepted by RSNA, as well as up to 48% of their educational works. For the full highlights, visit SERAM's website.
Another European MCL recipient was Dr. Lalani Carlton Jones, a consultant neuroradiologist at Guy's and Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust who specializes in spontaneous intracranial hypotension and spinal CSF leaks. Her e-poster was called "Spinal CSF Leaks: Typical and atypical appearances at CT myelography."
A total of 19 MCL awards were handed out at RSNA 2024. You can read the full list here.
