The German Roentgen Society (DRG) has posted an interview with Prof. Dr. Sebastian Reinartz from Jena University Hospital about how new technologies, learning approaches, and AI may be integrated into radiology education curricula.
Reinartz discussed how structured curricula focused on theory and practice can include new imaging technologies coming out. He said that one highlight of the hospital's teaching strategy will soon be the use of 3D glasses, which he added will allow students to perceive 3D anatomical structures.
Reinartz has been teaching at the hospital since 2024, where he also serves as the head of the cardiovascular imaging section. His scientific focus is on cardiovascular imaging, analyzing the heart and vessels on CT imaging.
He highlighted that while AI currently has a "minor role" in training, the technology could be a "tremendous asset" in the future of radiology education by allowing students to work through clinical scenarios.
