SuperSonic expands installed base in France

Ultrasound technology developer SuperSonic Imagine said it plans to install its Aixplorer Ultimate scanner at five medical centers in Auvergne, France.

A key feature of the device is shearwave elastography, which provides clinicians with a noninvasive alternative for determining the stiffness of liver tissue and the severity of liver fibrosis, according to SuperSonic. The company received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the clinical management of patients with liver disease in early 2018.

The five installation sites are the Estaing university hospital, the Chataigneraie clinic (Puy-de-Dôme), and hospitals in Montluçon (Allier), Puy-en-Velay (Haute-Loire), and Aurillac (Cantal). The machines are to be located in the gastroenterology departments.
