French hospitals adopt Agfa archiving

Agfa HealthCare announced that two French hospitals are extending their use of Agfa software by installing the company's HYDMedia digital archive.

The Centre Hospitalier Alès-Cévennes (CH Alès) and the Centre Hospitalier Jean Monnet in Epinal (CH Jean Monnet) will implement a HYDMedia system in the third quarter of 2011 and expect to complete the implementation in early 2012.

HYDMedia enables hospitals and healthcare facilities to create an electronic archive of patient records, combining their paper-based and electronic documentation -- such as diagnoses, modality printouts, microfilms, and clinical and administrative records -- while making data available across the organization.

The system also supports a zero-paper environment, which is another reason why CH Jean Monnet, a 696-bed facility, chose the digital archive, the hospital said.
