Dear AuntMinnieEurope MRI Insider,
Thankfully, pathologies of the vulvar are rare -- but because of their rarity, many radiologists struggle to diagnose some conditions correctly.
This has prompted a research team from Vienna and Rome to produce an authoritative and comprehensive article on MRI of the vulvar. It was published on Monday, and the authors have kindly agreed to share four sets of clinical images with us. Please take a look at today's top story.
In another intriguing study published this week, the authors reported that women with inherited pathological variants who discuss their breast cancer risk with their doctors had more consistent MRI uptake than women with lower estimated risk.
Meanwhile, Dutch investigators have found that a deep-learning model based on MRI and clinical parameters appears to be effective for predicting the risk of prostate cancer progression.
In other news, U.K. researchers have suggested that an AI tool can be used effectively to triage MRI scans of the brain to streamline the patient pathway and also relieve clinician workload. The challenge now is to implement the approach in the clinic across 44 sites.
Last but not least, three musculoskeletal radiologists have produced a timely and practical book about imaging of the bony pelvis and hip. One of the editors, Dr. Rajesh Botchu, has written an article for us about the new edition.
