The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) has released an imaging guide to help reduce rates of stillbirth in the country.

Stillbirth investigations are fundamental to stillbirth prevention. Offering a noninvasive alternative such as MRI as an addition to or substitute for autopsy (when the latter is refused by parents) may mean that more stillbirths will receive investigation, RANZCR said in a news release.

To that end, in partnership with Australia's Department of Health and Aged Care, RANZCR has produced a training package that includes best practice standards/guidelines for stillbirth imaging. The package includes practice support resources, decision-support tools, and a series of six recorded educational webinars developed by international experts in perinatal postmortem imaging.

In addition, an advanced two-day course and symposium will be offered in Melbourne from 4 to 5 August that will feature international and local experts in postmortem imaging, parent advocacy groups, stillbirth research, and perinatal pathology, as well as Australian Government representatives, RANZCR said.

More information, including on how to register for the symposium, is provided on the RANCZR website.
