Swedish radiation therapy firm Elekta will deliver and install its Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Presbyterian (UPMC) in the second quarter of this year.
Stockholm-based Elekta noted that UPMC was the first site in the U.S. to incorporate Gamma Knife radiosurgery into its neurosurgery program in 1987, treating more than 8,000 patients with different types of brain disorders at UPMC.
The Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion is designed for enhanced radiosurgery procedures in the brain, cervical spine, and head and neck regions.
