Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA, announced it will install four high-energy Clinac IX linear accelerators at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, scheduled to open in the summer of 2009 in Portsmouth.
The linacs are equipped with On-Board Imager devices designed to enable advanced image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) treatments, according to Varian. The new hospital will serve a population of 600,000 people on the South Coast of England.
