Two Italian hospitals will open new radiation therapy clinics with technology from Elekta of Stockholm, Sweden.
S. Maria Annunziata Hospital in Florence and IRST Cancer Institute in Meldola, Forlì, have chosen Elekta's Synergy IMRT (intensity-modulated radiation therapy) and 3D image-guided radiation therapy equipment.
Elekta values the orders at more than 8 million euros (approximately $11 million U.S.). The systems will be installed over the next six months.
